Mindful Embroidery Workshops
Mindful embroidery workshops are slower, longer-form sessions designed to give people the time and space to properly slow down and immerse themselves in making. These workshops are still beginner-friendly, but they are not designed to be rushed or squeezed into a busy day. Instead, they offer a chance to savour the process, learn more deeply, and lose track of time in a gentle, creative way.
These sessions work particularly well for community groups, residential buildings, and organisations looking to offer something meaningful as part of a wellbeing or community-focused programme. They can be delivered as a one-off workshop or as a short course, allowing participants to build confidence and skills gradually.
Who This Workshop Is For
Mindful embroidery workshops are especially well-suited to:
- Community groups and arts organisations
- Residential buildings and shared living spaces
- Corporate well-being initiatives with dedicated time set aside
- Smaller groups who benefit from a slower pace and more individual guidance
- People who may have tried embroidery before and want time to explore it more fully
While these workshops are beginner-friendly, they are best suited to groups who can give themselves permission to slow down and step away from the pace of everyday work or routine.
What the Session Involves
These workshops allow more time for learning, exploration, and quiet focus. Depending on the session, this might involve working on a slightly more detailed design, or taking part in a mindful drawing exercise that participants then translate into their own stitched pattern.
There is space to explore how different stitches work, how they can be combined, and how they feel to repeat. Some sessions involve everyone working from the same starting point, while others allow for more individual interpretation once the core skills have been introduced.
Conversation tends to be gentle and unforced, with moments of quiet concentration and a deeper sense of connection within the group.
Format & Timing Options
Mindful embroidery workshops are longer by design.
Typical formats include:
- Sessions lasting 90 minutes to 3 hours
- Half-day workshops, with a break
- Short courses spread over several sessions
This format allows time for practice, reflection, and settling into the rhythm of stitching without feeling rushed. These workshops can be run as one-offs or as part of an ongoing programme.
Teaching Approach & Support
Groups are kept smaller so that participants receive more one-to-one guidance. Instructions are given verbally, with written guidance also provided so people can work at their own pace.
There is time to practise stitches separately before applying them to a final piece, and plenty of space for questions, reassurance, and quiet encouragement. The focus is on learning gradually, rather than achieving a particular outcome.
Speed and perfection are deliberately avoided. These sessions are about process, not performance.
What Participants Leave With
People often leave these workshops saying:
- “I really needed that”
- “I don’t know where the time has gone”
- “I haven’t checked my phone once”
Participants leave with:
- A deeper understanding of embroidery
- Increased creative confidence
- Something they’ve been working on at their own pace
- A sense of calm, focus, and mental reset
- The skills, confidence, and kit they need to continue stithing
More than anything, they leave having given themselves time to slow dow
Past Workshops & Experience
I’ve delivered mindful embroidery workshops for community groups, residential settings, and organisations looking to offer something more considered as part of their wellbeing or engagement programmes. These sessions build on my wider workshop practice, offering a slower, more spacious alternative for groups who want to go deeper.
This format has proven particularly valuable when delivered regularly, allowing participants to return, build confidence, and develop a sense of shared experience over time.
Location & Availability
I’m based in Manchester and deliver workshops across Greater Manchester, the North West, and beyond. Sessions can take place at your venue, or I can help you think through what kind of space would work best.
Advance booking is recommended, particularly during busy periods such as Valentine’s Day, International Women’s Day, Mental Health Awareness Week, and Christmas.
Pricing Guide
I price workshops in a clear, straightforward way so it’s easy to understand what’s included.
- Workshops start from £160, which covers planning, preparation, and delivery of the session
- Materials are priced per participant, typically around £5 per person, depending on the workshop and materials used
Final costs may vary slightly depending on group size, format, location, and any bespoke design work, but I’ll always confirm pricing clearly in advance.
If you’re working to a particular budget, I’m very happy to talk this through and suggest options that fit.
