Bargello Workshops

Bargello is a form of straight stitch embroidery used to create bold, geometric patterns, often with a subtle retro feel.

In these workshops, participants learn how to use simple repeated stitches to build colourful designs that feel both structured and creative. Although the technique itself is straightforward, the results can be striking, making it a satisfying and accessible introduction to pattern-based embroidery.

Workshops are designed to be beginner-friendly while still offering plenty of scope for creativity, allowing participants to experiment with colour and create something that feels personal.

Smaller items can be completed within a session, while larger pieces are designed so participants can continue at home if needed.

Workshop format

Bargello workshops are flexible and can be adapted to suit different events and audiences.

Drop-in sessions

  • Ideal for events, activations, and shared spaces
  • Participants can create smaller items such as badges or bookmarks
  • Suitable for larger groups across a few hours

Seated workshops

  • 90 minutes to 2 hours
  • Up to 20 participants
  • Suitable for more detailed projects such as card wallets or accessories

Where needed, participants are provided with a take-home kit so they can continue their piece

Bargello has a naturally rhythmic quality. As patterns begin to form, the process becomes absorbing and quietly satisfying.

Workshops tend to feel calm and focused, with a steady pace that allows people to settle into the repetition of stitching while still enjoying the creative choices involved.

I’ve delivered fabric printing workshops across Manchester and the North West, in office foyers, conference venues, markets, festivals, and public-facing spaces. This format has been used successfully for family-friendly activities, workplace activations, brand-led events, and large-scale drop-in sessions.

Location & Availability

I’m based in Manchester and deliver workshops across Greater Manchester, the North West, and beyond. Sessions can take place at your venue, or I can help you think through what kind of space would work best.

Advance booking is recommended, particularly during busy periods such as Valentine’s Day, International Women’s Day, Mental Health Awareness Week, and Christmas.

  • Materials are priced per participant, typically around £5 per person, depending on the workshop and materials used
